Star Plus’s slogan says “Rishta wahi, baat nayi”, meaning new horizons evolving from the same relationships. Earlier, the tagline was “Rishta wahi, Soch nayi” Star Plus is an Indian entertainment television network owned by Star India. Star India is a subsidiary of Walt Disney Company India. The channel is famous for its daily soap operas, family shows, crime, and youth-specific shows. The channel has dominated the Indian television platform for more than three decades and currently has the highest TRP rating of 231.
The channel was started in the December of 1991 and also has a junior channel named Star Bharat. Star Plus was initially introduced as the English Channel, which contained other channels like Prime Sports, MTV Asia, and more. The logo used to be of yellow and purple color with the names “star” and “plus” spelled out completely. Later, to create a sense of minimalism, the company decided to redesign its logo and remove the word “star”, and replace it with an icon of 2 stars overshadowing each other. Over the period of 3 decades, the channel has undergone many logo redesigns, including changes in color combinations, font style, orientation, etc. Star Plus is deemed to be the longest successful running general television entertainment channel. Since 2010, the channel has been hosting its award show called The Star Parivaar Awards, wherein they celebrate the efforts and creativity of its channel operators, show casts, behind-the-scenes staff, and more. They award their actors and actresses by nominating with into several categories.
Behind the success of this channel lies a strong bone of many soap operas, which were and are widely loved by the Indian audience. Some of the renounce shows include Kyunki Saas Bhi Bahu Thi, which aired in 2000 for eight years and was one of the most-watched shows of those times. That show gave the channel the kickstart they needed. Other shows include Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii, another popular show, Hatim, Son Pari, and many more.
